The article highlights the challenges experienced by the European Union (EU) from the better-regulation agenda, that was launched in 2002. Topics discussed include role played by major EU institutions in better lawmaking and aspects of the current inter-institutional agreement; launch of integrated impact assessment (IIA) procedure by the European Commission in June 2002; and features of the newly proposed Inter-Institutional Agreement.
