- Abstract
In our article, we propose an analytical approach to identifying, legitimizing, and establishing special functions of teachers that contribute both to an organizational differentiation of functions in schools and to a professional differentiation within the occupational field of the teaching profession. We start with the presentation of seven postulates that specify the conditions and quality requirements regarding the implementation and the performance of school-related special functions. Thereafter, we discuss and evaluate selected «candidates» for such special functions against the background of the postulates. In the concluding section, we assess the extent to which our approach is suitable for achieving a criterion-based differentiation of professional functions.
