- Abstract
It is established that blast loading of a rock material of granite type leads to the formation, in addition to the well-known cracking zone, of a more extended zone featuring a microdamage of high-modulus crystal inclusions in the rock. A method of determining the size of this damage zone is proposed. It is shown that the radius of the zone of microdamage of high-modulus crystals can be significantly reduced by means of controlled variation of the explosive density and the blast-loading regime.
