- Abstract
The experimental results on a Townsend discharge in air at atmospheric pressure from a multipoint cathode based on a dynamic platform made of magnetically controlled Fe and Fe–Al particles are presented. A method for fabrication of a magnetically controlled dynamic platform for the cathode surface is proposed. The I–V characteristics are obtained for different configurations of the cathode (with a flat electrode without magnetically controlled particles and with a multipoint cathode with magnetically controlled Fe or Fe–Al particles) and in the presence of a heated coil in the cathode plane. Application of a multipoint cathode with a dynamic platform made of magnetically controlled Fe and Fe–Al particles makes it possible to maintain mean electric field strength in the discharge gap and to increase the spark discharge current.
