- Abstract
The article focuses on the problem of aspiration of dental instruments among dentists and their patients. The article stresses that dental practitioners should have a plan of approach in the event where aspiration does occur and must also train the staff to respond to such events in an efficient and expeditious manner. A case study has also been discussed wherein a 74-year-old man was admitted to the hospital after aspiring an instrument during treatment. While most of the foreign bodies can be retrieved from the bronchi with an endoscope, it may become necessary to remove the object or control bleeding by open chest surgery. The patient was discharged on the same day after removing that foreign particle .
