- Title
Shade Selection -- The Art and Science of Color Matching.
- Authors
Leon, Joel M.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the matching of shade and color of the natural dentition with a ceramo-metal restoration in dentistry. It is stated that proper shade selection is a complex problem, and there are very few dentists who have the ability to make a single ceramo-metal restoration that cannot be detected in the patient's natural dentition. It is mentioned that in the shade guides for porcelain selection, the porcelain used is not the same one that is used in the use of ceramo-metal restorations. It is stated that in a natural tooth, color is developed in layers, and the outer layer of the natural tooth at the crown is enamel, and cementum is present at the root.
