- Abstract
A presence-absence method was used to specify the spatial pattern of four fungal species isolated from 100 sample units of an oak forest litter by a standardized dilution technique. For each sample and for two chosen dilutions five plates were inoculated. For each species a distribution called the Binomial log-gamma distribution was fitted to the number of uninfected plates per sample unit. It was then possible to estimate the parameters of this distribution: δ can be related to the density of organisms and ω characterizes the degree of heterogeneity. The estimated values of ω for the two chosen dilutions are approximately the same for each species but the obtained values of the density increase with the dilution factor. For the isolated fungal species, the obtained results show the heterogeneous character of their spatial pattern.
