- Abstract
This article presents the research results from the Project called Redaction and Edition Handbook for Digital Environments (Manual de redacción y edición para ambientes digitales) that is intended for the strengthening of the linguistic competences involved in virtual communication. The corpus analysis and discussion arise from an observation and analysis work of two chat sessions in which participated students from diverse university programs of the Catholic of the North University Foundation – Colombia, in virtual modality. Based on linguistic analysis of the observed chat this communication media is characterized in an educative context and strategies for the strengthening of communicative competences on reading and writing are proposed. The conceptual and methodological framework is focused on aspects of linguistic analysis of computer mediated communication (ALCMC), such as: speech acts, cyberpragmatics and verbal politeness theory. As one of the main conclusions of the work, we can emphasize the pedagogical and communicative potential of chat in the educational context, since users of this media try to get the highest benefits from virtual interaction withacademic purposes by using a number of linguistic strategies.
