- Abstract
The article presents the discussion on high index of suspicion required for urinary tract infections (UTI) detection in the neonatal intensive care unit. Topics include suspected infections based on bagged samples requiring follow-up by either clean catch, urethral catheterization, or suprapubic aspiration (SPA); and contraindications including local skin infection, bowel distension, and, particularly, an empty bladder.
