- Abstract
The article discusses the experimental analysis for heterotrophy of Nitzchia palea and green alga Mychonastes homosphaera from the Propashchaya Yama Cave in the Southern Urals, Russia. It mentions that the cave is one of the largest karst caves in the Urals. It notes that the Nitzschia palea strain was isolated from a cyanobacterial algal cenosis of lake bottom sediments accumulated in the cave while the cenosis of M. homosphaera was growing on the wall near the shaft entrance.
