- Abstract
The growing emphasis on performance, pressure for productivity, the lure of lucrative salaries and a promise of ambitious careers in the IT sector compounds the work-life balance problems further as it results in a grueling work schedule of 24/7. This paper investigates the relationship between work-life balance coping strategies or practices in the IT firms and worklife balance among the women employees working in the IT industry in Hyderabad. The study reveals the extent to which work-life balance policies and practices contribute to work-life balance. The study found that organizational practices have a significant influence on work-life balance among women IT employees. It also shows that leadership plays an important role in implementing work-life balance practices. The study also shows that welfare programs, role conflict and job sharing are found to have higher level of satisfaction among the employees and underlines the importance of work-life balance for employees and organizations.
