- Title
Twenty-Year Study of Rheumatic Fever Patients.
- Abstract
The article cites a study from the U.S. which found improvement in chances of survival of patients who were diagnosed with rheumatic fever and admitted to the House of the Good Samaritan. Of 1000 rheumatic fever patients admitted to the hospital, 202 had died between 1921 and 1931. During the next decade, less than half of that number had succumbed. The study revealed that mortality rate of patients with rheumatic fever is influenced by the degree of disability, duration, frequency, and complications, depending on the longevity of the disease and its recurrence.
