- Abstract
This article is a systematic review that examines the relationship between taste perception and genetic variation in taste receptors in pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). The review found that pregnant women with GDM have an increased preference for sweet, salty, and fat tastes compared to pregnant women without GDM. Genetic studies also suggest that certain genetic variations in taste receptor genes may be associated with an increased risk of GDM. However, more research is needed to further understand the role of genetic variations in taste perception among pregnant women with GDM.
