- Abstract
The article discusses the corporate art collection of Ashland Oil Inc. Paul Chellgren, president of Ashland, states that they did not begin collecting with a purpose until after 1970 when their collection was only bits and pieces. New headquarters for its corporate office and its chemical company convinced them to begin collecting with more of a focus. A committee including Chellgren, the board of directors, and their corporate art director was created to oversee the purchase of art with a focus on limited-edition prints. The company now has some 2,500 pieces throughout over 12 buildings which focus on contemporary art and includes some oil paintings and sculptures.
