- Title
AMERICAN STANDARDS IN EDUCATION.
- Abstract
The article discusses an address given by U.S. Commissioner of Education Elmer Ellsworth Brown on standardizing educational institutions before the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 1909. A background of efforts by states to standardize educational institutions is presented. The organizations that were involved in the initiative are cited, including the Association of American Universities. The article also suggests that Brown's views on the issue can be applied to institutions that train practitioners in medicine.
