- Title
Reliability with Erlang.
- Authors
Vinoski, Steve
- Abstract
The article discusses the reliability of Erlang, a computer programming language created by Ericsson in the 1980s. Erland was developed to accommodate telecommunications environments where a system's maximum allowable downtime might be measured in minutes per year. Several aspects of Erlang foster such reliability, including rapid process creating and tear-down, transparent distribution, and the capacity to handle live upgrades. These and other features make Erlang suitable for enterprise-integration or middleware applications that place a premium on reliability.
