- Abstract
The article discusses the history of the Fairchild FC-2, an early 20th-century monoplane designed for use in aerial photography by photographer Sherman Fairchild. Particular focus is given to a replica of the monoplane on view at the Canadian Aviation Historical Society's (CAHS's) Canadian Aviation Heritage Centre. Details on the plane's design, which included folding wings and an enclosed and heated cabin, are presented. Other topics include Fairchild's manufacturing company, Fairchild Aircraft Ltd. (FAL) and the role of the aircraft company Canadian Vickers of Montreal in manufacturing the Fairchild FC-2.
