- Abstract
The article presents information on the use of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) technology for solving crimes and the increase in its use by the law enforcement personnel. A focus is on the threats related to privacy mainly function creep and familial searches and the U.S. Fourth Amendment rights of the individuals. The risks related to DNA databases and the designing of the Orange County database for California for safeguarding the privacy concerns are discussed.
