Tibet curtails import of religious items from Nepal.
- Abstract
The article reports on the new restriction of Nepalese imported religious items to Tibet, China issued on July 1, 2009. According to TibetInfoNet, possible reasons were the placement of trans-border links and the scrutiny over religious funds and the notice was announced to Nepali authorities on June 23, 2009 through the Consulate of Lhasa, China. Although Nepal suffered a trade deficit with China plus the restriction, and the Nepalese government remained silent on the issue.
