- Abstract
The use of polyester velour in animal experiments has been investigated by the authors for artery plastic surgery. Although the blood porosity of the material is higher than that of artificial blood vessels in use today, the pores will be closed with clot within 5-8 minutes due to the velour quality of the material. At the same time the big porosity makes possible a quick and perfect implantation, the forming of a thin neointima. The implantation porosity of the mentioned material can be reduced to 0 with gelatin impregnation and it does not influence the subsequent intussusception. In the clinical practice polyester velour patches were successfully applied on 20 patients to close the arteriotomies of femoral arteries.
