- Authors
Kościańska, Agnieszka
- Abstract
This article explores the practice of self-censorship in late Communist Poland regarding sex education and sexuality. Sex experts and educators employed strategies to navigate state censorship and Catholic morality, using indirect language and coded expressions to discuss controversial topics. The article emphasizes the complex relationship between the state, the church, and the public in shaping sexual norms and the reception of sex education. It also highlights the ongoing impact of self-censorship on the discussion of sexuality in Poland today.
