- Abstract
Introducción: Niveles séricos de los ácidos pentadecanoico, oleico, monoinsaturado trans y poliinsaturados, son marcadores biológicos adecuados para la ingesta diaria habitual, en los meses anteriores e incluso en unos pocos años. Objetivos: Determinar si existe diferencias entre marcadores del estado nutricional de ácidos grasos entre niños control y niños con trastornos neurológicos sin alteración metabólica conocida. Material y métodos: Se ha analizado el perfil de ácidos grasos en suero y fosfolípidos de eritrocitos de sangre de 35 muestras de sangre de niños control y 374 de niños con alteraciones neurológicas, mediante extracción de grasa, metilación y separación y cuantificación mediante cromatografía de gases con detector de masas. Resultados y discusión: Se observa un incremento significativo de ácidos grasos saturados y ácidos grasos trans sobre el perfil total de ácidos grasos, tanto en suero como en fosfolípidos de membrana, en los niños con transtornos neurológicos, con respecto a los valores en niños control. Se observa asimismo, un descenso en los valores de ácidos grasos insaturados, n-3 y n- 6 y poliinsaturados de los niños con trastornos neurológicos, con respecto al grupo control. Conclusión: Todos los marcadores de dieta rica en insaturados y poliinsaturados n-3 son desfavorables tanto en suero como en fosfolípidos de membrana en el grupo de niños con transtornos neurológicos.
