- Title
Is an FDA alert harming patients?
- Authors
Schuman, Eric
- Abstract
The article reports on the warning released by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) concerning the adverse effect of taking triptans and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or serotonin/norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). FDA stresses that taking both drugs may result to the development of serotonin syndrome or serotonin toxicity. However, Dr. Randolph W. Evans found that FDA's data lack the necessary information to support the risk offered by the drug combination.
