Educational Realism in Less Developed Countries.

- Abstract
The article focuses on the educational realism and the effects arising from educational overinvestments. Some less developed countries (LDC) have invested too much in education and most of them have made serious errors in their suballocations. It is the tragedy of most LDCs that their populations are mired in poverty. Since the modernized urban sector will not generate new jobs fast enough to provide employment for those who are already in the cities, there are some directions for reforms. The political leadership in developing countries must increase the tax sources for the support of the local schools. Schools cannot run on money alone, they require competent teachers and supervisors. Curriculum reform is essential. Teachers should work in close association with others who bring services to the rural population, particularly the agricultural extention worker, the public health worker and the community. One fact is certain, it would be a costly error if the educational authorities were to opt for a substantial expansion of vocational schools as good vocational schools are expensive to operate.
