- Authors
Launis, Veikko
- Abstract
The article examines the solidarity-based reasons in regards with insurance discrimination because of genetic test information. The argument from exclusive genetic solidarity showed that the sustaining genetic ignorance on the collective level has morally valuable consequences that are not easily overrident by other types of moral considerations. According to the argument from inclusive solidarity, the consideration that someone happens to be born with a weaker genotype than another is irrelevant from the moral viewpoint. Finally, insurance applicant who are particularly vulnerable to genetic risks should be treated on a par with applicants who are not particularly vulnerable to genetic risks.
