Will There Be Whistleblowers?
- Authors
LAWNER, JONATHAN; DICKINS, DENISE
- Abstract
The article explores how heavily the Dodd-Frank whistleblower bounty program might be utilized. It examines the likelihood of the success of the Act's mission to encourage people to report securities violations. It discusses two analogous federal bounty programs, the Federal False Claims Act of 1863, and the Internal Revenue Service's Informant Claims Program. Results revealed the lack of adequate federal funding to pursue reported claims, and the underutilization of the programs.
