- Authors

- Abstract
The particular place assigned to freedom of expression and right to information in the human rights system is reflected in the currently well-developed Ukrainian legislation. It regards the international and European law requirements. The exercise of these freedoms and rights may be restricted by law in the interests of national security, territorial integrity or public order so as to prevent riots, crimes and disclosure of information obtained confidentially; protect public health, reputation or rights of others; maintain authority and impartiality of justice. But freedom of expression and right to information are frequently misused in political, commercial, criminal and other disreputable interests; the relevant malpractice competes with the right to privacy. It is expedient to advance in Ukraine legal consciousness and culture to ensure the rule of law and the due balance of citizens' freedoms and rights - the rights to information and privacy protection included. Ukraine's national motto "Freedom is our religion" obliges the nation.
