- Abstract
The article discusses the purpose of Marian congregational song in the Roman Catholic Church in the U.S. from 1854-2010 and explores the song developed, persisted, and changed as a mediator of Marian devotion before and after Vatican 11. Several bar graphs of Marian Congregation songs in Latin, English and in each hymnal are presented. A list of several commonly found Marian congregational songs, including Magnificat, O sanctissima and Behold, a Rose of Judah, is also prsented.
