- Abstract
An essay is presented on the association between the prohibition of marijuana and social norms in the U.S. It explores the Law and Economics that exhibits the disassociation between social norms and marijuana prohibition. It explains the historical basis on the prohibition of marijuana and the establishment of the National Commission on Marihuana and Drug Abuse. It notes the adaptability of the laws that involve the criminalizing of marijuana in social norms instead of prohibiting it.
