- Authors
Wadman, Meredith
- Abstract
The article focuses on the U.S. lawsuit filed by 13 Americans against four companies for manufacturing and distributing thalidomide which has been discovered to cause birth defects. It says that the lawsuit claims for at least one malformed baby that was born to a trial participant in 1958. Researcher Lewis Holmes from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston notes that the plaintiffs will face difficulty in supporting their claim due to the lack of research on thalidomide births in the U.S.
