- Abstract
Louis Bernatchez, a renowned fish ecologist and conservationist, passed away in 2023. He was a professor at Laval University for 28 years and made significant contributions to the field of molecular ecology and fish genomics. Louis conducted research on various fish species, including Lake Whitefish, Brook Trout, and American Eel, and collaborated with scientists and Indigenous communities around the world. He was known for his dedication to conservation and his ability to foster strong relationships with his colleagues and mentees. Louis leaves behind a vast scientific legacy and will be remembered for his kindness and passion for his work.
