- Abstract
Metacognition is considered a higher-level process that depends on the biological evolution of brain structures such as the frontal lobe, which has also been documented as a fundamental part of the development of executive functions that are the basis for many processes in human life. Thinking about metacognition in preschool-age children when they are biologically unprepared have different consequences at a theoretical, educational, and clinical level, in this reflection the biological support of executive functions and metacognition in preschoolers is presented, the final question that arises for future researchers it is whether we are looking at the right thing or doing it the right way.
