- Authors
WILLIAMS, MICHAEL
- Abstract
The article focuses on the phenomena of the Mohicans fandom. The author examines the phenomenal fan-operated site on the world wide web called "On the Trail of the Last of the Mohicans," a center of an extensive community of fan followers of the film "The Last of the Mohicans." He investigates the development of the specific conditions and technology that have resulted to the convergence of this particular popular culture. He opines that the convergence can be understood as a new stage of discussing American national identity, with the help of cyberspace as "virtual community."
