- Abstract
The article focuses on the five financing tools used to stimulate economic development ventures namely: tax abatements, brownfields funding, community development block grant (CDBG) funding, tax increment financing (TIF), and new markets tax credits (NMTC) in the U.S. Each tool were scored based on its effectivity in causing economic development. According to the authors, these tools offer significant advantages over others in terms of their flexibility and positive impacts.
