- Abstract
The article examines the impact of the fur trade on the Ojibwa way of life during the 1800s. Topics discussed include several European tools and items that replaced Ojibwa stone and bone implements such as axes and knives, the various jobs performed by the Ojibwa for Europeans including canoe building and repair and interpreting, and the high demand for clothing by the Ojibwa, as well as diseases transmitted by the fur traders and explorers.
