- Abstract
The article discusses a passage in the non-canonical apocryphal New Testament book the "Apocalypse of Peter," which is an interpretation of the two gospel parables of the budding fig tree and the barren fig tree. Topics addressed include discussion of the tradition and use of the parables in the early Church, contextual information of the history of early Christianity, and demonstration of the passage's suitability to a second-century context.
