- Title
Reflections on Inter- and Intragroup Relations in Israeli Society.
- Authors
Gordon, Leonard
- Abstract
The article reflects the relations of intergroup and intragroup in Israeli society. There is an ideological conflict and pragmatic accommodation in the intergroup relations between Arabs and Jews. There is ideological consensus and pragmatic conflict in the intragroup relations between Ashkenazic Jews and Sephardic Jews. The emergent patterns will have an increasing impact on the relatively cohesive Ashkenazic Jewish population which is dominant in Israeli society. The ultimate stability and cohesiveness of the society will depend on the relations between Ashkenazic and Sephardic Jews and not only on the resolution of conflicts with the Israeli Arabs.
