In this article, the author discusses the functions of pseudonymity between authors and supporters of the Encyclopédie in eighteenth century France. He examines French writer, Nom de plume Voltaire's disagreement with post structuralist critics and their detractors. He explains that study of pseudonymity is an interpersonal and conflictual competition between two or more people.
