Brachytherapy in Accelerated Partial-Breast Irradiation.
- Authors
R. Hiatt, Jessica
- Abstract
The article discusses brachytherapy's role in accelerated partial-breast irradiation (APBI). APBI targets only the postoperative tumor bed and a surrounding clinical target volume in a shortened course and at a higher dose per fraction than the whole-breast irradiation. It presents several brachytherapy techniques and mentions that APBI remains a viable and advantageous treatment option for suitable breast cancer patients. Information on several devices including "ClearPath" is provided.
