- Title
Using online assessment to support the development of referencing skills.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article discusses the use of online assessment to support the development of referencing skills. When teaching library and information skills, assessments are often focused on measuring the skills gained by participants at the end of a course. This form of assessment, which is known as "summative," is useful to obtain an overview of learning that has taken place, but the author argues that it is inferior to "formative" assessments, which can enable participants to learn during the course instead of merely gain a mark at the end.
