The article focuses on a study concerning impact of gross growth efficiency, food intake and specific production rate processes of ecosystem on average body mass of organisms. Topics discussed include impact of energy exchange and flow rate on body size, importance of density distribution effects of prey on predators energy intake and relationship between food requirements and secondary mass scaling within the species group.
