- Abstract
The article examines the political significance of aid to other countries with an Islamic influence after World War II. It argues that this aid was both an expression of sovereignty and solidarity, as well as a claim to power. Islam played an important role as a cultural bond and political argument. The article also addresses the diversification of humanitarian organizations, which pursued both religious and secular motives. It focuses on humanitarian organizations in the Middle East, particularly in relation to Islam. It points out that modern humanitarianism in the Middle East cannot only be attributed to the end of World War I, but also to earlier traditions and later developments. It also highlights the cooperation and competition between different organizations, as well as the importance of regional networks and institutional rivalries.
