- Abstract
This text brings out the perception of a teacher acting in the initial years of the Elementary School in a public school in the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul. Its main objective is to discuss the relations established since he joined the school, considering his position of a gay man, and how this fact reverberated among his colleagues and the direction board. The informations have their origins on a thesis presented in 2016. The methodology consists in semi-structured interviews, observations, questionnaire and informal conversations. Analysis method was used for data analysis content. The theoretical-analytical framework was based in the Gender Studies, in a poststructuralist perspective. It was concluded that the teacher escapes from the dominant representations of male teaching by demonstrating ideas of care, attention and affection, usually associated with female teaching, thus facing unwanted responses from his colleagues related to his presence in school.
