- Abstract
In this paper, the results are presented when implementing a didactic proposal based on learning of science by inquiry, through project-based learning, for the initial training of physics and mathematics teachers at a state university in Chile. The future professors built low-cost archetypes to generate explanations of the physical phenomena present in the chosen physical system, for which they exercised, among other aspects, the identification of variables and the design of experiments. Using the Gowin's Vee as a systematization tool, they confronted the theory and the phenomena involved in the archetype, however, they had difficulties to develop the experiments that would allow demonstrating the relationship between both. There was a need to incorporate in the course more aspects related to the problematization and management of projects, besides deepening the elaboration of explanations, given that the generated ones were incipient. It is necessary to emphasize the appropriation of disciplinary knowledge and the development of explanations by future teachers. The implications of the results in the initial teacher training are discussed.
