- Abstract
The wave - particle duality of de Broglie's theory is analyzed critically, based on the theory of the special relativity of waves and particles. From the state function of free particle of Schrödinger's equation, we prove the existence of interference analogous to the Young's double slit without using the wave - particle duality. Similarly by analogy with the Fresnel - Kirchhoff's integral we obtain equations for diffraction in slits also without using the wave - particle duality. We conclude that de Broglie's theory is inconsistent with the theory of relativity and the quantum phenomenon of interference and diffraction are explained by the superposition of state functions and the linearity of the Schrödinger's equation without taking into account the wave - particle duality.
