- Abstract
The article provides a literary criticism and comparison of two novels, Patrick White's "The Solid Mandala" and Saul Bellow's "Mr. Sammler's Planet." White's novel is about the tormented relationship between two elderly brothers living in a fictional suburb in Australia while the protagonist in Bellow's novel is a holocaust survivor who laments American social mores of the 1960s. It is explained that both novels depict a mystical experience with a mandala.
