Black (Counter)Terrorism.
- Authors
Torres, Sasha
- Abstract
An essay is presented on media representations of African Americans linking black racial heritage to terrorism. Particular focus is given to the television series "Sleeper Cell," the film "Traitor" directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and the television series "NCIS: Los Angeles". It is suggested that plotlines centering on African Americans being mistaken for terrorists affiliated with Islam reflect racist conceptions of African Americans as less than full citizens.
