- Abstract
The article presents the 2011 report of the Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP) of the American Economic Association (AEA). The methodology of the committee's survey of university and college economics departments is described. It is noted that the number of women who are doctoral students or who have earned doctor of philosophy (PhD) degrees in economics remained roughly 33 percent of the total, as it has since 2006. It is also noted that the number of PhDs in economics granted at U.S. universities declined in 2011 for both men and women.
