- Abstract
PURPOSE: To evaluate the effect of different surface processing of BLB implants on osseointegration. METHODS: Six Beagle dogs,thirty-six implants with different surface processing were divided into 2 groups (A:18 BLB III implants with HA+SLA surface processing ;B:18 BLB I implant with HA surface processing). Three BLB I and 3 BLB III were placed into the mandible of each Beagle dog immediately and randomly at the 2nd, 3th, 4th pre-molars which were extracted under anesthesia. At the 2nd, 4th, 8th week after operation, two Beagles dogs were sacrificed, respectively. The specimen were observed by gross examination, histological examination, ground section of bone with implant. RESULTS: At the 2nd, 4th week, the bone contact rate of BLB III group was significantly higher than that of BLB I group (P<0.05). At the 8th week, there was no significant difference between two groups. CONCLUSION: BLB III shows considerable positive effect on osseointegration to implants in a short-time, but it's not obvious after 8 weeks.
