- Abstract
This article discusses the challenges of airway management in patients with maxillofacial trauma who have undergone Erich arch bar placement and trans palatal wire. The combination of fractures, swelling, and the presence of these orthodontic appliances can obstruct laryngeal visualization during intubation and complicate airway management. The authors describe a case in which successful intubation was achieved on the first attempt via the nasal route, highlighting the importance of careful positioning, instrument selection, and technique. The article emphasizes the need for a multidisciplinary team approach involving anesthesiologists, otolaryngologists, and maxillofacial surgeons to effectively manage complex airway cases in patients with maxillofacial trauma.
